Accuracy is the product.
If a test-prep question is wrong, you don't find out until you've paid $175 to sit the real exam. So this app treats question accuracy the way flight software treats safety: as something enforced by machinery, not by promises.
The rules the question bank is built under
1. No question is written from memory. Every item derives from a published FAA document: 14 CFR Part 107, the Airman Certification Standards, the Remote Pilot Study Guide, the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, Advisory Circular 107-2A, or the Aeronautical Information Manual. Blogs, forums, YouTube courses and other test-prep products are banned as sources.
2. Every question carries its citation. Not "per the FAA" — the specific document, section and revision it came from, shown with the explanation the moment you answer.
3. The build refuses to ship a violation. An automated gate checks every question for a citation to a permitted source, four distinct options, a unique stem, and a substantive explanation. If any check fails, the app cannot be built. The gate itself is tested by deliberately corrupting the bank twenty different ways and proving the gate catches every one.
4. Regulation citations are verified against the regulation. A separate verifier downloads the current text of 14 CFR from the eCFR and confirms that every cited section exists and that every checkable figure in a question — altitudes, speeds, distances, timeframes — actually appears in the section it cites.
Regulations change. The bank notices.
The verified snapshot of the CFR text ships inside the repository, and an automated weekly job re-downloads the current text and re-runs the verifier against it. If the FAA amends any cited section, the job flags every affected question for review before the change can silently make an answer wrong.
Sectional charts are real
Chart drill images are excerpts of actual FAA sectional charts, which are published by the FAA and in the public domain. Questions are anchored to specific points on the excerpt and written by looking at the chart — each one describes features actually visible in the image you're shown.
No AI-generated answers
Nothing in the app is generated by a language model at runtime, and no explanation is machine-paraphrased. Explanations are pre-written against the source text and quote or cite it directly. There is no server, so there is nothing to hallucinate: what was verified at build time is exactly what you see.
Found a question you think is wrong?
Use "Report this question" in the app, or email support@joshsalway.com with the question ID. Reports are checked against the cited source, and a corrected bank ships in the next update. That correction loop is the last line of the accuracy system, and it's the one you power.
